What is a Flow Conditioner ?

Flow conditioner is a device used in process measurement system. It can effectively eliminate flow distortions, create a fully developed flow profile and help reduce flow measurement facility errors due to installation effects. This device is a perforated plate with holes of varying sizes.

The stainless steel ANSI 316/316L flow conditioners made by WHMTM are superior both in its effect on most flow and in swirl removing capability. More materials are available including Inconel, Monel, Duplex, Hastelloy,etc. We also accept OEM production.

WHMTM N5 Series flow conditioner meets the manufacturing specification in B.3.2 and B.3.3 and requires being installed in accordance with B.3.4. of Annex B of ISO 5167-2:2003.

WHMTM N5 Series flow conditioner ( K-Lab NOVA's) is not required to do "Compliance Testing".

The WHMTM N5 series flow conditioner is available in four different styles depending on the installation status:

FCF-Flow Conditioner Flange Style, FCP-Flow Conditioner Pin Style, FCR-Flow Conditioner RTJF/RTJM Style, and FCS-Flow Conditioner Standard Style

Flanged flow condtioner is designed with raised face.
It is installed between two standard raised face flanges and gaskets.
One end of the flow conditioner is inserted into the downstream pipe bore.

Flow Conditioner Pin Style

Type C: Pin style flow conditioner does not have a flange available for installation. It is inserted into the pipe and held in place by a set screw, fully enclosed by the pipe wall.

Flow Conditioner RTJF/RTJM Style

RTJ Female

The D style is for an application using ring type joint gaskets.
Flow conditioner is made to match with the flanges and gaskets based on the pressure rating.

The S style is for flow conditioner housing. In this situation, flow conditioner housing replaces the orifice flanges to hold the flow conditioner. This flow conditioner is easily taken out in maintenance without dismantling the pipeline.

1. According to ISO 5167-2: 2003

WHMTM N5 Series Flow Conditioner is suitable for trade measurement and needs to meet the following requirements.

UL1≥7.5D, UL2≥8.5D

2. Recommend UL1≥5D, UL2≥5D(8D)

WHMTM N5 Series Flow Conditioner is suitable for non trade measurement requirements where the installation position is insufficient.

UL1 Unbroken straight pipe measured from the upstream face of WHMTM N5 Series Flow Conditioner.

UL2 The distance between the downstream end of WHMTM N5 Series flow conditioner and the orifice plate

UL=UL1+UL2 Upstream straight lengths. The distance between the orifice plate and the nearest upstream fitting.
